2N OS 2.44 offers breathtaking updates

If we told you that if you updated, you could build a custom 2N IP Style display, streamline mobile access with face detection, and more – would you do it?

intercom systemsBuild a custom display layout for the 2N IP Style

You can build a custom layout of the 2N IP Style intercom directly in its web interface. The UI builder, which we’ve called ‘2N Flexi Layout’ allows you to change many things, including the background, button colours, icons, and text, as well as required actions for buttons. Create a layout that is clear and tailored for all users who interact with it.

Face detection added to high-res intercoms

2N OS 2.44 brings a new mode of motion detection to our range of high-res intercoms (2N IP Style, 2N IP Verso 2.0, and 2N IP One). Face detection detects faces and then triggers an action. Please note that face detection is not face recognition. The intercom can only detect there is a face in front of it, it doesn’t log or deal with any sensitive biometric data.

There are two modes of motion detection:

  • Face presence detection – motion detection is triggered when a face is detected in front of the camera.
  • Incoming person detection – in this mode, both the face and the body of the incoming person are detected simultaneously. This allows you to avoid unnecessary alerts triggered by static images containing faces.

The most common use case is triggering WaveKey (mobile access) authorisation. In other words, once the intercom at the front door detects a face (or body & face), it starts the authentication process via the approaching mobile phone.

With face detection, the motion mode of our mobile access is more precise and easier to set up. Before, motion mode needed to be set up precisely – not too sensitive, because something such as a car passing by could trigger the authorization. And, not too insensitive, because then only moving your hand very close to the camera could trigger the authentication.

To sum it up. The new motion detection mode in combination with WaveKey mobile access brings the same user experience as a facial recognition access. But it has no cons of facial recognition like dealing with sensitive biometric data. Or poor facial recognition systems that you can fool by a photo of the face.

Welcome messages for the 2N IP Style

You’ve been able to show messages to users on the 2N IP Style for some time. When we launched it, we called it a noticeboard because it could be shown only to users with valid access credentials. With the new version of the 2N OS 2.44, 2N IP Style can do more:

  • General visitor message – shown to the visitor during the call when the door is being opened by the tenant/receptionist. Examples include displaying the way to the elevator or the reception or a message to inform users that the elevator is out of order.
  • User visitor message – the same as above, but the message differs according to who opened the door. Best for buildings with multiple companies. When a visitor calls a company on the 3rd floor, the company’s receptionist will open the door for them, and the 2N IP Style will display the message ‘Continue to the 3rd floor’.
  • Access denied – you can show messages to users whose access credentials have been denied, for example, ‘Access denied. Contact reception. Find the number in the intercom’s phonebook.’

Display intercoms and indoor stations now support Arabic and Japanese

The 2N IP Style, touch display module for the 2N IP Verso, 2N Indoor View, 2N Indoor Compact and 2N Clip all come with a new font that lets you use Arabic and Japanese characters.

It doesn’t mean we support these two languages natively (you can’t pick them from the list of supported languages). But, you can have Japanese and Arabic names in the phonebook, and if you want to have the display UI in Arabic and Japanese, you can create your custom language in the configuration of the 2N OS.
